February 4, 2010 Dear
Valued Customer, This reminds you that the recent passage of Senate
Bill 608 requires that you obtain a new retail tobacco license from the
Oklahoma Tax Commission if you wish to continue to sell tobacco products
other than cigarettes. You should have
received a letter from the Tax Commission earlier this year detailing these
new requirements. As this letter
stated, this is a new permit in addition to the cigarette and sales tax
permits that you already have. If you
do not have this permit by April 1, 2010 the tax commission will require
Standard Distributing and other licensed wholesalers to discontinue sales of
tobacco products (other than cigarettes) as of that date. Senate Bill 608 also requires that you purchase
cigarettes and other tobacco products for resale only from a supplier that
holds a current wholesalers license, and agree to sell cigarettes and other
tobacco products only to consumers.
